Words to live by...

The life of Amy has really seen its share of ups and downs over the last year or so. From the pain of a divorce to the loss of friendships and my so-called-life as I knew it! Everything has been flipped and turned upside down. Here are some quotes that have gotten me through this tough time because it's good to know that someone else has gone through exactly what I have. So thank you, dear writers of these lovely quotes...

~ You cannot say you've lost a friend. If a friendship is capable of ending, it is because it never existed ~ thanks to my friend Mayza Blanco Martinez, for that one. I've lost a couple of 'friends' along the way but when I think about it, I still love and cherish people that I've known from childhood. Those others must have just been floaters...

~ One who looks for a friend without faults will have none ~ Apparently the Hasidics are wise people. They knew that everyone makes mistakes, sometimes over and over again. It is not in our job description, as humans, to judge each other. I can be as dumb as the next guy, how could I ever judge!

~ Love does not care to define and is never in a hurry to do so ~ Charles du Bos once knew that kind of love. Yes - I love where love cannot be defined and I will not even attempt to. But the heart feels what the heart feels and it's as simple and as difficult as that.

~ Pleasure is very seldom found where it is sought. Our brightest blazes are commonly kindled by unexpected sparks ~ Boy, Samuel Johnson, you have a point there! Have I had the most unexpected sparks in my life! See previous quote for commentary.

~ In order to have great happiness you have to have great pain and unhappiness - otherwise how would you know when you're happy? ~ This was the quote for me when I was going through my divorce. My heart was broken but the Lord carried me through it and I'm forever grateful.

~ I would rather have HIGH highs and LOW lows than to live a life of mere content ~ My friend Jill Williams once told me this. I agree, Jill! My life is full of the extreme high and extreme low. That's me, I guess. But ohhh the happy times are greeeaaat.

~ The heart has reasons that reason cannot know ~ I wish I could ask this random brilliant writer what they were going through here. My heart has come up with some awfully stupid ideas in the last year. We shall see what she's up to next...

~ A friend is someone who walks in when the whole world has walked out ~ Trust me. The whole world has walked out on me a couple of times this past year. People who I thought were my world, disappeared in a heartbeat. What can I say? Some only stick around for the fun stuff. When life get's rough, they're outta there! Yet others came to my rescue when I never even had to call. I feel very blessed to have those people in my life.

Come on, my sappy friends, what's your favorite quote? And to follow suit in this sappy edition, I'd love to know whyyyyy you've chosen that to be your favorite, as I've done here. Come on, do it. Doo it.
